Big Ape Records Demo Submission Policy

Want to have your music heard by the staff at Big Ape? Well, before you rush off and send us those demo tracks/past album, here are a few rules we ask that you follow in order to make the process easier.

1. Send us your music in CD format only. No tapes, records, DAT’s, mini discs, etc. We get lots of submissions and CD format is the best way to get us to listen to it. Even if it is on a burned CD, that’s fine.

2. Since we are an indie label on a limited budget, we have to make sure you are a bonafide band that is willing to work to be successful. This means that you should include a polished press pack with your submission. Got great show reviews? Fine, include them in your package. Have a kick ass photo? Awesome. How about a list of dates/venues you played in the past? We need to know that. Put simply, if you are serious about making money with your band, then you need to treat it like a business. Sell yourself to us. Make us believe that your tunes are the next best thing since sliced bread. Let’s face it, we are all here to make music, money and have fun, but if you aren’t serious about your band then you are wasting our time and yours by sending in a shoddy package. And remember, your package will not be returned to you, so make sure that the item you are sending us isn’t the only copy you have in existence.

3. Big Ape Records is a rock n’ roll label. That means we accept submissions for all genres in that category. We don’t care too much for hip-hop, country, techno, etc. Not that some of us don’t enjoy that stuff from time to time, but we want bands that can bring the rock. Dig it?

4. Do not send us mp3’s, links to your sonic bids web page, myspace profile or any other place your band resides on the web. If that info is in your press pack, then we will check it out later if we find that your music is something we like. A professional press pack is a better way to get our attention than a one paragraph email with a smattering of links to your band at the end. Reread # 2 again.

So, there ya go, simple rules. If we like what we hear, we will contact you. There is no need to send a follow up email or letter.
